ISLAMABAD  - A local court Tuesday sent an arrested magistrate of Islamabad, Malik Farrukh Nadeem, to jail on 14 days judicial remand in land fraud case.

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) produced the accused Farrukh Nadeem before the court of Senior Civil Judge Muhammad Sohail after completion of three days physical remand of the accused. FIA officials maintained before the court that the agency had completed its investigations and it did not need further physical custody of Farrukh. Therefore, the court sent the accused to Adiala jail on judicial remand for 14 days.

It is worth mentioning here that earlier, FIA had arrested the magistrate from Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises on the charges of receiving Rs 1.5 million bribe after the court turned down his pre-arrest bail plea. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui dismissed his pre-arrest bail plea in a case in which Farrukh was alleged of receiving Rs 1.5 million from a person Asif Javed for bogus transfer of five kanal of land in Mora Noor village near Bani Gala, Islamabad.

In this connection, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Amir Ali Ahmad had already suspended Farrukh on September 16 after appearing before the court. The DC suspended the magistrate citing a chance of fair trail to be provided to the FIA so that the accused could not influence the investigation due to his official position.

The magistrate was on protective bail after obtaining the same from the Lahore High Court that expired on last Friday. However, Farrukh moved a pre-arrest bail plea before the IHC bench before expiry of his protective bail but Justice Siddiqui rejected it.

Babar Awan Advocate representing the magistrate maintained before the court that his client was unaware of an FIR registered against him and when he came to know about it, he got a protective bail from Lahore. At this juncture, Justice Shaukat Aziz remarked that since Farrukh Nadeem was on duty then how he went to Lahore without any intimation and it is also not possible that he was unaware of the fact that an FIR had been registered against him some six months ago.

It is to mention here that on September 12, the same IHC bench had also rejected the bail application of Asif Javed who allegedly paid Rs 1.5 million bribe to Farrukh for repossession of a five kanal of land that he had sold to one Willayat Khan Abbasi in 1991. Asif Javed is currently in Saudi Arabia for performing Haj.

Willayat Khan Abbasi and his nephew Mazloom Abbasi, both complainants in this case, had lodged a complaint with the FIA, saying that they were in possession of the land when the three respondents Asif Javed, Farrukh Nadeem and Patwari Aseem tempered with the record and got land transferred to their names. They tempered with Parat Patwar while they could not temper with Parat Sarkar, the complainant also said.

Then, Willayat Khan Abbasi got registered an FIR with the FIA anti-crime circle on April 26, 2013 against the magistrate Malik Farrukh.
