LAKKI MARWAT - The staff of Government Higher Secondary School Landiwah kept the school closed on the second consecutive day to protest against torturing of principal by some villagers.
On Tuesday, one Mushtaq along with two other accomplices intercepted principal Habibullah when he was on way to the school. They asked the principal to give them details about the school's PTC fund.
But principal refused advising them to approach the district education officer in this regards. Upon that the three men got furious and they thrashed the head of school severely.
They also tore the clothes of principal and aimed their pistols on him. As soon as the news of torturing of principal reached the school the staff held an emergency meeting and decided to close the school as per preventive measures. They later went to the office of district education officer where they furnished a written complaint about the incident. On the other side one of the attackers Mushtaq also lodged a complaint with the DEO stating that the school's administration had no record of PTC fund utilisation besides several teachers and clerks were receiving salaries at their homes since long.
DEO Taj Ali has reportedly ordered an inquiry into the matter and directed the teachers to return to their duty and begin teaching activities. It was learnt that officials of education department had also approached local police with the request to take legal action against the men involved in torturing the principal of GHSS Landiwah. Meanwhile, the headmasters and principals association's president Pir Ghulam condemned the attack on principal and demanded the police authorities to arrest the attackers without any delay.
