LAHORE: In commemoration of the supreme sacrifice made by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and his son Hazrat Ismail (AS), in obedience to the command of Allah Almighty, Eidul Azha is being celebrated in Pakistan, Azad Kashmir and Occupied Kashmir on Friday with great religious fervor and enthusiasm.

Amid tight security, Eid congregations are being held at thousands of places all over the country in which the faithful will offer Eid prayers and pray for peace, progress and wellbeing of the Ummah and Pakistan. The biggest congregations will be held at Faisal Masjid, Islamabad, where President Mamnoon Hussain will offer Eid prayers.

In line with the security step, the government this time has prohibited holding of Eid prayer congregations at open places. During the three days of Eid, millions of animals will be sacrificed and their meat will be distributed among the poor, relations and neighbours. Very tight security arrangements have been made for the Eid days on the orders of the Interior Ministry and respective chief ministers of the provinces.

The federal and the provincial governments have chalked out elaborate security arrangements across the country to ward off untoward incidents. Thousands of policemen have been deployed to keep vigil on the nefarious elements in the main cities. Besides police and Rangers’ patrolling in Karachi, special security measures have been adopted in and outside the recreational parks, Zoos, public places, markets and at sensitive installations and government buildings.

Policemen in plain clothes have also been deployed in different bazaars. Close circuit cameras have been installed at important places and locations to check the movement of antisocial elements.
