LAHORE - Some 20,000 tons of animal waste is expected to be managed during three days of Eidul Azha. The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has finalised all arrangements including installation of 165 camps on union council level, deployment of 644 pickups, 269 dumpers and additional containers.
These views were expressed by Kahlid Majeed, Managing Director LWMC, while reviewing cleanliness arrangements across the city.
Majeed monitored zero waste operation carried out last night to empty more than 8000 waste containers in order to give city a clean look. Some 120 specialised waste collection and transfer stations are ready to effectively facilitate management of large amount of animal waste produced in cooperative housing societies, railway colonies and cantonment areas, he said.
He further said the LWMC workforce of 10,000 workers along with officers was on toe for this mission. The LWMC chief also hoped the citizens will ensure the use of waste bags for disposal of animal offals.
