LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the payment to the small growers, under the agricultural relief package announced by the prime minister, will start soon.

The chief minister on Thursday presided over a high level meeting which reviewed recommendations in connection with immediate implementation of agriculture relief package for development of agri sector and prosperity of the cultivators.

The chief minister told the meeting that early provision of financial assistance to small cultivators under agriculture relief package will be ensured. He issued instructions for the completion of survey of the area under cultivation for the provision of financial assistance to small farmers and said that Cabinet Committee should take necessary steps for ensuring a transparent and authentic survey and this process should be completed within stipulated period.

He further directed that the method for distribution of financial help to small cultivators should also be given a final shape at the earliest and the concerned departments should dispose of necessary matters even during Eid holidays so that small cultivators could be paid financial assistance as soon as possible.

He warned that no delay will be tolerated in the provision of financial help to small farmers. The Chief Minster also issued instructions for setting up of a technical committee comprising representatives of Punjab Information Technology Board, Urban Unit, SUPARCO and Land Record Management Information System and said that technical committee will assist the cabinet committee in survey and distribution of financial assistance.

Shahbaz Sharif said that concerned institutions and departments will have to work in an active manner for the provision of financial assistance to small cultivators. He said that maximum payment centers should be set up in the concerned districts for distribution of financial help after completion of the survey and all out facilities should be available to the farmers at these centers.

Also, Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the tragic incident in Mina and sympathized with the bereaved families of the martyred Hajis. He said that he was deeply shocked and grieved over this incident and the government equally shares the grief of the heirs of the martyrs. The Chief Minister also prayed for the early recovery of the injured Hajis.

CM EID MESSAGE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that service to humanity and sharing of Eid joys with destitute persons and orphans is the real message and spirit of Eidul Azha.

He said that Eidul Azha is celebrated to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahm (PBUH) to earn the blessings of Allah Almighty. He said that human history has no other example of this kind. He said that great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (PBUH) is a unique and unprecedented event in the history of the world.

In his message on Eid, the chief minister said that this occasion gives the message to rise above personal interests and display the spirit of sacrifice, brotherhood and unity.

He said that there is a need to work for development of the country and prosperity of the masses as it is the real spirit of sacrifice. He said that sharing of Eid joys with poor and deprived segments of the society is the real philosophy of Eid.

Shahbaz Sharif said that spirit of sacrifice is not limited to slaughtering of animals but to strive for resolving the problems of humanity, helping the oppressed and serving the needy people. He said that this is the real philosophy of Eid and a key to success in this world and the world hereafter.

He said that it is the time to help destitute and indigent persons and share Eid celebrations with them so as to perform this religious and moral obligation in letter and spirit. The Chief Minister said that special prayers should also be offered on Eid-ul-Azha for the progress and prosperity of the country and welfare of the masses.
