Wah Cantt-A seminar on health, safety and environment was organised on the start of Safety Week at Pakistan Ordnance Factories under the auspices of HSE department of POF the other day.

Chairman POF Board, Lt Gen Omar Mahmood Hayat HI(M) was the chief guest on this occasion. Addressing the participants, the chairman POF board stressed upon the audience that it is the dire need to create awareness among POF employees in particular about the importance of health, safety & environment.

“We shall have to bring the standard of safety, health and environment at international level as all organisations in the whole world focused on environment, health & safety of their employees. It is the need of hour to further improve the disaster management as we lack infrastructure to cope with natural calamities. We will have to improve our SOP in order to reduce the losses of natural calamities,” said Lt Gen Omar.

The chairman POF Board appreciated the performance of HSE department & expressed his satisfaction over the steps taken by this department in terms of health, safety & environment; however he mentioned that it needs to be further improved.

The chairman POF board assured to provide every possible resource to HSE department for provision of modern equipments.

Earlier, Director Health, Safety & Environment in his address remarked that health, safety & environment is the part & parcel of any industrial complex and Chairman POF Board’s decision to set-up this department in POF is a milestone in the history of POF.

While throwing light upon the importance of health, safety & environment, Director HSE remarked that these three elements are directly connected with the production activities and it is the prime responsibility of administration to ensure health, safety & clean environment for the employees.

Other speakers included Director NDMA Raheela, Dr Shehzadi Saba Imran, Wah Medical College, Major Imran, and Manager HSE Nasir Mahmood Baloch who delivered detailed lectures on the subject and highlighted the importance of health, safety & environment in an industrial unit.
