LAHORE - Youthful Isfandyar Khan kept his hold on the top position at the conclusion of the second round of the Governor's Cup Golf Tournament, here at the Lahore Gymkhana course on Saturday.

Isfandyar, 17, kept his cool and avoided any kind of hiccups, and produced a round of net 71 on the second day and that gave him an aggregate score of 138 net, six under par over two days and he had an advantage of three strokes over his nearest rivals Ahmed Zafar Hayat and Asad Abbas, who were bracketed at a score of 141 net, three under par.

In the Millat Tractors sponsored premier golfing activity, Isfandyar was once again accurate off the tees and shot making from the fairways was crisp and target oriented as many towering aspirants find themselves weeded out of contention as they hit too many inaccurate shots and their putting was errors loaded and hence their golfing scores ballooned and far exceeded the over par range that does not fetch any kind of honors.

Rehman Saleem was placed at a net score of 142, followed by Hamza Mansoor, a former Governor's Cup title-holder at a score of net 143. Also at 143 was Lt Col Adil Jehangir. Ahmed Baig was at 144, Taimur Shabbir and Tariq Abbas Qureshi were at 146 while Ahmed Nawaz Tiwana, Jamal Nasir, Usman Ahmed and Tanwir Najam Butt were at 147.

In the fight for the gross honors, Ahmed Baig led the chase with a two days gross of 148. Ahmed Zafar Hayat had a two-day gross aggregate of 149 with Wazir Ali at 153 and Sardar Murad at 154. The prize distribution ceremony of the grand event will be held today (Sunday) here at 5pm and Punjab Governor M Rafiq Rajwana will be the chief guest.
