Food items be sold at fixed prices, says DC

Orders strict action against hoarding Seerat conference to be organised in month of Rabi-ul-Awal

Bahawalpur  -  On the direction of the Punjab government, food items would be sold at fixed rates while crackdown will be initiated against hoarding. 

These orders were given by Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Irfan Ali Kathia in a review meeting held to assess the performance of price control magistrates across the district. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner General Amir Nazir Kachchi, Assistant Commissioners from across the district, System Network Administrator Muhammad Azeem Zeeshan, DFC, Deputy Director Industries and Price Control Magistrates were present on the occasion.

It was informed in the meeting that the price of 20 kg bag of flour has been fixed at Rs. 1100 / - and the price of 10 kg bag of flour has been fixed at Rs. 550 / -.  

The Deputy Commissioner directed to ensure availability of ample quantity of flour in the market and sale at fixed price. 

Similarly, the price of sugar has been fixed at Rs. 90- per kg and the sale of sugar in the market at the fixed price should also be ensured.  

The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the individual performance of the Price Control Magistrates.  

During the meeting, System Network Administrator Muhammad Azeem Zeeshan while giving a briefing said that during September 17 to September 24, 2021, the prices of essential commodities were checked in 8154 shops, carts, markets and other business centers across the district.  

The Price Control Magistrates imposed a total fine of Rs. 1024708 / - on the spot.About   13 shops were sealed, 239 persons were arrested and FIRs were registered against 49 persons in the concerned police stations.

From 1st Rabi-ul-Awal to 12th Rabi-ul-Awal, all the departments will organise celebrations of Shaan Rahmat-ul-Ulalmeen  (PBUH) under an integrated strategy.

These views were expressed by Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Irfan Ali Kathia while presiding over an administrative meeting in the committee room of his office here on Friday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner General Amir Nazir Kachchi, Assistant Commissioners from across the district, Allama Riaz Ahmed Owaisi, CEO Education Zahoor Ahmed Chauhan and officers of other concerned departments were present on the occasion.  The Deputy Commissioner said that a Seerat Conference would be held on the occasion of Shaan Rehmat-ul-Ulalmeen (PBUH) celebrations.  

All public and private buildings will be illuminated.  It was informed in the meeting that in the days of Rabi-ul-Awal, Naat recitation, speeches and Naat poetry would be organized by the schools.

A hearing will be held at Bahawal Gymkhana on the occasion of Shaan Rahmat-ul-Alamin (PBUH) celebrations.

Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur reviewed the arrangements and formed a committee to conduct the celebrations with religious devotion and respect and dignity.  Additional Deputy Commissioner General, CEO Education, Rescue 1122, Assistant Commissioner City, Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation and Security  Branches will be included to ensure  security.
