LAHORE - President Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Punjab Ch Parvez Elahi has appointed Shaikh Mohammad Omar as Senior Vice-President Lahore.
He said that the objective of entrusting important responsibilities in the party to the youth was to make the party strong and active and provide them opportunities to appreciably shoulder national and organizational responsibilities.
General Secretary Muslim League Punjab Senator Kamil Ali Agha while handing over notification to Shaikh Mohammad Omar as Senior Vice-President Lahore expressed the hope that he would uphold pride worthy political and moral traditions of PML and shoulder his responsibilities for promotion of high humane traditions of tolerance, temperance, forbearance and patience and for democratic, political and economic stability from the platform of Muslim League.
Meanwhile, President University of Management and Technology (AUMT) Ibrahim Hassan Murad called on Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Parvez Elahi at his residence here on Friday. Views were exchanged regarding higher education on this occasion. It may be mentioned here that UMT has been ranked among the top universities of Asia. Ch Parvez Elahi said that Punjab Assembly had made the law making reciting Holy Quran Nazira up to class six and with translation up to Matric compulsory for the first time in educational system.
He said students were being acquainted with religious education along with English. “To be equipped with higher education is the basic right of all children. Better education system will ensure a brighter future for the coming generation and the country will make progress”, he observed.
The UMT president said that presently around 25,000 students were studying in the university. He said: “You as the Chief Minister Punjab rendered services for promotion of education which are unparalleled. From 2002 to 2008, the government schools up to primary level were upgraded and the number of children getting admission also increased. The World Bank also praised your educational policies a number of times”.
Ch Parvez Elahi appreciated the performance of the UMT saying that it was good to see the university ranked among the top universities of Asia.
