ABBOTTABAD (Online) - Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Tariq Majeed has said that Pakistan seeks peaceful coexistence with all countries especially its neighbours but it cant be at cost of Pakistans sovereignty and territorial integrity. Pakistan army besides safeguarding the countrys borders would also save the nation from extremism and terrorism, he said while addressing a passing out parade of 119th long course, 33rd graduate course, 21 technical course and 4th lady course at Pakistan Military Academy Kakul on Saturday. Commandant PMA Kakul Maj Gen Raheel Sharif, ambassadors of different countries and military attaches were present on the occasion. Tariq Majeed awarded honorary sword to battalion senior officer Asfandyar Khan while overseas gold medal was awarded to under officer Hamid Qabah, Chief of Army Staff gold medal to Sri Lankan cadet Kanwara, honorary stick of army chief to each senior under officer Bhadur Ali Butt and Khawar Sharif. On the occasion, the cadets took oath they would obey the Constitution of Pakistan and would not involve themselves in political activities. Addressing the cadets, CJCSC Tariq Majeed said Pakistan is facing external and internal challenges and comprehensive national efforts are needed to overcome prevailing situation. Pakistan army is fulfilling its duties professionally and would defeat terrorists with nations support, he said. Pakistan army is ready to face any challenge and would defend the motherland at all cost, he said. There would be no comprise on Pakistans sovereignty and territorial integrity, Majeed said. He went on to say that Pakistan army must play role to overcome challenges being faced by the country. We would come up to the expectation of masses, he said. Cadets have much responsibility on their shoulders and they should work to end extremism and hatred, he said. We would have to promote soft image of Islam and there is no room for terrorism and extremism in Islam, he said. Pakistan army would root out terrorism and extremism. We are brave nation and know very well to defeat challenges, he said.
