PESHAWAR - On suspicion of favouring Taliban militants, the government has transferred Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Mohammad Javed. Fazal Karim Khattack has been appointed as new Commissioner, Malakand Division. Agencies add: The military circles had also expressed concern over Javed's close links with those who were challenging the writ of the govt in Swat, reported a private TV channel, quoting its sources. Commander of banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan Maulvi Faqir also had close links with Javed, the sources added. Non-action against militants after abduction of four security personnel in Swat was the main reason behind his transfer, the sources said, adding that the decision to transfer him was taken at a high-level meeting. Javed was appointed as Commissioner Malakand Division on demands of Chief Tehrik-i-Nifaz-i-Shariat-i-Muhammadi Maulana Sufi Muhammad soon after his release. Meanwhile, NWFP Chief Secretary has suspended Deputy Secretary Establishment Division Haji Abdul Jalil for leaking transfer information to the media with regard to transfer of Commissioner Malakand Javed before issuing of the notification, the sources added. Meanwhile, the NWFP government has appointed eight Qazis in Malakand Division. The Qazis included Riaz Ali, Rasool Shah, Muhammad Rehman, Noor Muhammad Shah, Muhammad Ibrahim, Qazi Miauddin while names of two could not be ascertained. The NWFP government has decided to establish Darul Qaza in Malakand Division and has completed all preparations for that, the sources said. The official announcement of setting up Darul Qaza in the division is expected within a day or two. Chief of Tehrik-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi (TNSM), Sufi Mohammed had given April 23 deadline for constitution of Darul Qaz in Malakand, which later extended for indefinite period. Two district Qazis and 11 Qazis will be nominated with constitution of Darul Qaza, the sources said. Meanwhile, TNSM spokesman Amir Ezat Khan said TNSM has not been consulted over appointment of Qazis in Malakand Division. Talking to a private TV channel, he said TNSM would accept only those Qazis who were respectable and meet our expectations.
