LAHORE - Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hassan has said peace should be restored at any cost for survival, integrity and stability of the country. He said that government was lucky to achieve peace without any hassle in troubled Swat. He demanded registration of case against former President Musharraf for breaching trust of masses on government. Syed Munawar expressed these views while speaking on Sawat Peace Accord and prevailing situation in the country here at Hameed Nizami Hall on Saturday. He said it was first obligation of government to provide justice and take revolutionary steps for the betterment and prosperity of tribal belt and Balochistan. He said propaganda was being launched against the so-called talibanisation to divert the attention from Americanisation in Pakistan. He said Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parveez Kiyani should show maturity in his statements on Nizam-e-Adl and take firm stand against the US and NATO forces, who were intervening and destabilizing Pakistan. We should wait for the results and affects of Nizam-e-Adl for sometime so that the retaliation force of Taliban may convert into progressive thinking. The situation in Sawat is fast improving and it is far better now than in the past, he added. The JI Ameer said that it was unfortunate that the ruling party was ignoring ground realities in Swat and providing logistic support to NATO to carry out operation against the people of Pakistan. He said Sufi Muhammad helped the provincial government and Taliban to reach a settlement and Nizam-e-Adl should be warmly welcomed. It is the US who first reacted against the agreement. It is hypocritical that the US wanted dialogue with Taliban of Afghasnistan but at the same time opposing settlement with Taliban of Swat, he said. He said the US was continuously dictating the rulers of Pakistan to run government according to its wishes. He said Indian government was propagating against Pakistan by giving statements that Taliban might capture Pakistan and its atom bomb was insecure. Munawar Hassan alleged that Muttahida Qaomi Movement (MQM) was towing the same line. He said that the MQM Chief talked about Talibanisation in Karachi but every one was aware that MQM existence secret remained in every government He said advisor to the PM on Interior Rehman Malik should shun apologetic style and take firm stance on important issues especially on Indian government involvement in destabilizing Balochsitan. Talking about a letter of the PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to PM Yousaf Raza Gillani about Taliban, he said then government should implement minimum soft form of Islam in state for restoration of peace and stability. I am in favour of All Parties Conference (APC) but it should make clear first that it will give fruitful results and practical steps will be taken at the end, Munawar Hassan added.
