RAWALPINDI: Some unidentified persons Saturday fired at Raja Amjad Hameed, the brother of the slain journalist of The Nation/ Waqt TV, Raja Asad Hameed. The incident took place when Raja Amjad Hameed was coming back home. However, he escaped the fire shots and reached home safely. According to Wajid, another brother of Raja Assad two unidentified boys wearing helmets opened fire on Raja Amjad in the nearby street of their house. However, he remained safe and tried to snatch the pistol from them.He told that after hearing fire shots, students of a Madrassah situated in the street came out but unfortunately the attackers succeeded in fleeing the scene. He said that an FIR was registered in the respective police station and police officials were visiting the crime scene. It is pertinent to mention here that Raja Asad Hameed was murdered on March 26 and police have not yet arrested the culprits. Meanwhile, President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Haji Nawaz Raza, President National Press Club Tariq Chaudhry, Secretary General Afzal Butt along with the journalists of twin cities demanded of the government to investigate into the case on priority basis and arrest the culprits involve in the heinous crime. Family members of Raja Assad Hameed told TheNation that Federal Minister for Information Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Advisor on Interior Rehman Malik had announced the grant of million of rupees and medical facilitation for the slain repeaters daughter.Rasm-e-Qul of Raja Asad Hameed will be held on April 30 after Zohar prayer at his residence situated in Dhoke Kala Khan near Divisional Public School Rawalpindi.
