RAWALPINDI - The residents of the Railway Housing Scheme No 7, Railway Colony and Diesel Colony have complained of being supplied contaminated water adding that not a single water filtration plant has been installed. This was told during a meeting of Railway Prame Union Engineering (RPUE) held here on Saturday with Divisional Secretary Raja Yasir Aslam in chair.Governing and local body members, zonal office bearers and scores of RPUE members also attended the meeting. The confronting problems and issues to the railway employees were discussed in detail in the meeting. The meeting was informed that the authorities concerned did not clean the water supply tanks in the area for months owing to which the inhabitants were being supplied contaminated water, while not even a single water filtration plant have been installed for the resident of Scheme No 7, which they termed a sheer injustice with the railway employees. Employees also informed the meeting that owing to the unhygienic supply of water the waterborne diseases have been surged in the area, especially, among children. They further informed the meeting that the government deducts 5pc salary of the railway employees in railway colonies on account of maintenance of flats, however, they accused that the said amount was only being used for the decoration and reconstruction of railway officers bungalows. On the conclusion of the meeting Raja Yasir Aslam demanded of the government to install a filtration plant in Scheme No 7, he also demanded of the WASA to ensure hygienic water supply to the Railway Colony.
