LAHORE - Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal, VP and Regional Chairman FPCCI, has urged the government to resolve the prevailing energy crisis immediately as it was destroying Pakistan’s exports.

Addressing an official meeting at FPCCI Regional Office Lahore, he appreciated Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on his announcement to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the industrial sector. He also lauded CM for promising over Rs 500 million development package for Sialkot city the upcoming budget (2012-2013). He said in past the govt did not pay the required attention to Sialkot city despite the fact that it is an important industrial city of Pakistan.

“Sialkot is a hub of sports and surgical industry in Pakistan. But unfortunately it was ignored by the past governments but now it is time to fulfil the demands of Sialkot’s business community and public,” he said.

He added that the provincial govt should generate sufficient electricity for both industry and public by initiating thermal and solar power projects in the province. He suggested turbines on canals for power generation purposes. He also said that energy crisis issue can be resolved by promoting the solar energy projects in the province.
