RAWALPINDI - Lack of security checking arrangements at important shrines of Rawalpindi, including Shah De Tahlian and Shah Hassan Charagh, has posed life threat for the pilgrims and devotees. These two shrines are under the control of Auqaf department and they stand at central places of the city. Shah De Tahlian shrine is located in Committee Chowk, Benazir Bhutto Road while Shah Chan Charagh shrine is located in Bhabra Bazaar.

, which are thickly populated and crowded areas. Security equipments have been provided to the custodian of these shrines but no proper checking system of the devotees is in place at these two shrines, said a devotee.

Those who are deployed on checking of the devotees don’t perform their duty and spend their time taking rest the whole day long in the shrines, complained a devotee. It is also duty of the police department to induct some policeman for security checking purpose but this department is lending deaf ears to this aspect, said another devotee.

Some time earlier one person had committed suicide inside Shah Chan Charagh shrine as no walk through gate has been built in the shrine nor any metal detector has been provided. The devotees demanded of the Auqaf department to ensure implementation of security system in these shrines strictly.
