ISLAMABAD - The Executive Board of NAB has approved the filing of two fresh references against Ameerzada Khan Kohati, ex-DG Malir Development Authority Karachi, and Asad Ali Shah, ex-director Mansehra Development Authority, for accumulating assets beyond known sources of income.
The Executive Board of NAB, which met Wednesday, with Chairman NAB Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari in chair, approved the filing of these references. In the case against Asad Ali Shah, ex Director Mansehra Development Authority and other officials were charged with illegal allotment of model houses, shops and residential plots to favourites persons on lease/ rent and outright sale in sheer violation of rules and regulations laid down by the authority for such allotments, and thereby causing a loss to the public exchequer. The board observed that the material available on record was sufficient to convict the accused.
The board rejected the voluntary return request of Sikandar Ali Abro, ex-District Account Officer, Hyderabad and others in an inquiry of fraud in contingent account and other funds.
This was observed that it would be premature to accept voluntary return at this stage, and the inquiry team was directed to continue with the inquiry.
The Board approved closure of the inquiry against officials and contractors of National Highway Authority (NHA) in an inquiry of malpractices in afforestation contract of NHA. The board ordered closure of inquiry as the inquiry team had reported that trees were physically counted and compared with measurement books. On the charges of grabbing the government land through illegal means in Mouza Harbanspura Lahore, the
board authorized the closure of inquiry. DG A&P was directed to inquire from the Punjab Board of Revenue on ownership issue and settle the dispute amicably in accordance with the law.
