Petition filed to bar PM from performing State functions

A petition filed in Sindh High Court seeks to bar Prime Minister from performing State functions. In his miscellaneous petition, the petitioner Maulvi Iqbal Haider has pleaded that after being proven for violation of article 63(1)(g), the PM was no longer illegible for his office, and even as an MNA: hence he should be barred from performing any further State functions with immediate effect. The petition also prays that Speaker National Assembly should be issued directives to dispatch an illegibility reference of PM to Election commission of Pakistan. An earlier petition in addition to the recently filed, already seeks PM’s illegibility for his office; since the PM had failed to act over the NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) verdict of Supreme Court, thus committing contempt of Court.
