PESHAWAR - The students of Pharmacy Department Kohat University of Science & Information Technology (KUST) have demanded of the government to save their future by affiliating their department with the Pakistan Pharmacy Council.
The infuriated students also warned if their demand was not meet within two weeks, they will boycott the classes and hold a sit-in outside the Governor House.
Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, President Pharmacy Students’ Association KUST, Fahim Afridi, said that the Pharmacy Department had established in 2007, but despite that it has acute shortage of faculty members, and also lacking adequate facilities in laboratories and libraries.
Flanked by General Secretary, Wasim Khan, and Information Secretary Taj Mohammad, Fahim informed that the future of more than 400 students was at stake due to the non-recognition of the Pharmacy Department. He added that they were protesting for last three weeks in favour of their demand to affiliate their department with Pakistan Pharmacy Council, but the government was least bothered.
“We have observed complete boycott of classes in protest and vowed to continue agitation till the acceptance of their demand,” he warned.
He also criticized the university administration for failing to address the genuine problems facing the pharmacy students.
He demanded of the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take concrete steps to ensure affiliation of the Pharmacy Department, Kohat University with Pakistan Pharmacy Council, to save the future of students .
Meanwhile, activists of People’s Youth Organization (PYO), Peshawar, on Wednesday announced to launch a protest movement against Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for allegedly ignoring the party workers.
While addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) Wednesday, they demanded of the President and Prime Minister to replace the governor with a PPP’s sincere person.
The organization president, Jahangir, claimed that Governor Masood Kausar had ignored the party’s loyal workers and is facilitating his blue-eyed persons.
He alleged that the political agents at different tribal agencies had been appointed by taking huge bribe.
He demanded of the President Asif Ali Zardari and Premier Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani to immediate replace the present Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor with honest and sincere party “Jilaya”.
