LAHORE – Railways Minister Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour has stated that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, whether convicted or freed by the Supreme Court, will be the hero in both situations. ANP leader stated this while talking to the media on Wednesday after inspecting the site of the blast at Lahore Railways station.
‘Gilani has nothing to lose’, Bilour said, adding, if the court convicts the PM, he would shine for rendering sacrifice for his party and if he is freed, he would continue serving as chief executive of the country. ‘Why none of the dictators were given punishment by the courts in the history of the country’, he questioned while defending the position of Gilani. Speaking about Tuesday’s blast, Bilour said that despite the repeated demands of funds for improving the security system of the department, the government had not given any penny to the utility.
He said that Railways had demanded Rs 20 million in recent past to make better the security system but the money was not granted.
Asked if India was involved in the attack, Bilour said that blaming India makes no sense to anyone in a situation when there were terrorists everywhere inside the country. Terrorists were the enemies of Islam, Pakistan and humanity, he said. To a question, he admitted the CCTV cameras were not functional at the Lahore Railways station at the time of blast, but he tried to defend the position of his department stating that how terrorists could be traced inside the trains or Railways stations when they made ‘safe journeys’ everywhere in the country.
Later, Bilour alongwith Railways General Manager Naeem Malik and Railways Police IG Syed Ibne Hussain visited the Mayo Hospital and Karen Hospital to inquire about the persons injured in the blast.
Bilour expressed grief over loss of precious lives in the bomb blast.
