LAHORE – The PML-Q (Like-Minded Group) has been conveyed by the PML-N leadership that no electoral alliance is possible with the group, however, potential individuals will be welcomed at any time, The Nation has learnt.

Sources in the Like-Minded Group privy to the developments regarding forging an electoral coalition with the PML-N told this correspondent on Wednesday that PML-Q dissidents, who don’t enjoy many options, would succumb to the decision of the PML-N and faction leaders especially from Khyber Pukhtunkhawa and Punjab are most likely to join Nawaz Sharif as political individuals in the days to come.

However, they stated that the leaders of the group belonging to Sindh might opt for a political party other than the PML-N or wait till the announcement of next general elections.

They informed that Gohar Ayub Khan met with PML-N senior command at Punjab House, Islamabad sometime ago, while Saleem Saifullah Khan was also maintaining independent contacts with close aides of Nawaz Sharif, which indicates that the two political bigwigs from Khyber-Pukhtunkhawa could join the ruling party of Punjab at any time.

When asked about PML-N’s contacts with President Like-Minded Group, Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Ali Muhammad Mehr from Sindh, they maintained that talks with both the leaders remained in process recently, however, two prominent political electables from Sindh haven’t decided anything yet and they might wait for the announcement of next general polls to see the mood of the masses in their province to take a decision regarding re-routing their political course.

In Punjab, they asserted that Hamid Nasir Chattha, Chairman of the PML-Q faction being a prominent political figure among the Jatts of the central Punjab would become a necessity for the PML-N to counter the members of the Jatt clan in the same region who were either standing with the PML-Q or PPP at the moment.

They said that there were reports that Chattha was expected to meet Nawaz Sharif soon and they would reach an agreement to decide the matters regarding the central Punjab as a single political entity.

However, the case of Humayun Akhtar Khan was not clear so far.

Meanwhile, PML-N insiders close to the developments in this regard told this scribe that Saleem Saifullah Khan and Gohar Ayub Khan alongwith their other associates can join them at any time. Similarly, Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Ali Muhammad Mehr can also follow the suit of their faction leaders from Khyber Pukhtunkhawa.

They while saying that a meeting between Hamid Nasir Chattha and party chief, Nawaz Sharif was expected soon told that party owing to its weak links in the rural areas of Gujranwala and Wazirabad seriously considering to offer Chattha a deal to join the PML-N.

However they stated that no package or deal has been finalised with the Like-Minded as a group for an electoral alliance and the Like-Minded leaders have been advised not to feed the media false stories.
