LAHORE - Punjab Rangers started campaign to protect environment which was succeeded with the participation of civil and public educational institutions.

In this connection, Rangers DG Maj Gen Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussain also participated in walk held in connection with environment and wild life protection and planted a tree the other day in presence of hundreds of people.

The campaign was started on the direction of Maj Gen Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussain in October 2011. During this period, Rangers planted about .5 million plants and trees and 4,000 birds were freed in the border area and 15,000 small fish were left in rivers. 

More than 2,000 cases were registered against people involved in illegal hunting and cutting of trees in the border area. To create awareness about protection of wild life and environment, all the students of schools being run by Rangers and people from different walks of life participated in the campaign.
