RAWALPINDI – Railway Police deputed well trained commandoes along with 40 extra police cops, equipped with latest weapons, at Rawalpindi Railway Station to cope with any terrorism activity.
The authorities also appealed to District Civil Defence and Pakistan Army to provide sniffer dogs to trace out explosive material.
These steps were taken on the instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Railway Maj (retd) Syed Ibn-e-Hassan, informed SSP Railway Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahmed Mukhtar while talking to meida men here on Wednesday.
He said that security has been beefed up inn and outside Rawalpindi Railway Station after blasts in Lahore.
Special teams have also been formed to frisk the passengers round the clock at all entry and exit points of the railway station, SSP said in addition with sniffer dogs have also been demanded from Pakistan Army and DCD to detect explosive material on the stations.
Besides all these arrangements, the officials of Special and Security Branches would also keep a vigil at suspicious elements at Rawalpindi Railway Station whereas the patrolling with trains was also enhanced to tackle any untoward incident, SSP Railway Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahmed Mukhtar added.
