PESHAWAR : A candidate of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) was arrested on charges of having fake identity cards in polling station, confirmed senior police official on Saturday.

SSP Operations Mian Saeed said that Shamsur Rehman, who was contesting for the cantonment elections, was arrested for carrying fake CNICs. Shamsur Rehman was contesting for cantonment board elections from Peshawar Ward No 3.

Earlier, APML President Aurangzeb Mohamed made allegation that opponents had abducted Shamsur Rahman.

A large number of candidates have been enrolled in the voter list of cantonment board having address of other areas however they were using fake ID cards for casting vote.

Kabuli Police said that FIR has been registered against him under section 419,420,468,471 of CRPC.
