CHITRAL-A saw machine and a small furniture factory were gutted in a fire at Kalkatak village of Drosh area, some 55-km from here.

According to the Drosh Police, some unidentified persons set the saw machine and furniture factory on fire, burning the entire premises to ashes.

On the other hand, owner of the Saw Machine and factory Salahuddin Tofan alleged that somebody had sprinkled petrol on Deodar trunk (wood) during midnight at and put it on fire. Resultantly, the entire premises including the small furniture factory was burnt to ashes. He informed that one of his relative was asleep inside the room of saw machine who was woke up by smoke of fire. He claimed that his furniture factory was consisted of a number of electronic motors, machines, timber etc worth Rs4 million. Meanwhile, PTI leader Haji Gul Nawaz Khan, PPP leader Javed Akhtar and JUI-F leader Qari Jamal Nasir also visited the burnt saw machine and demanded the provincial government to compensate the owner for the losses caused by the fire. On the other hand, Advocate Sher Habib Jan claimed that the Drosh Police had not registered FIR of the incident on the pretext that investigation was underway and a case would only be registered if any clue was found.

Residents of the area informed this scribe that Salahuddin was a prominent social worker and very kind person who never harm anybody
