KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has said that a sense of deprivation is rising among the people of Karachi and they want the city to be made a separate province.

Addressing the gathering at Jinnah Ground, Azizabad held to celebrate the party’s victory in NA-246 by-poll, he asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to provide justice to the people and on failure to do so, he should resign from his office.

He claimed that a sense of deprivation is rising among the people of Karachi which has forced them to raise the demand to make the city into a separate province. Similarly, the country requires formation of new provinces in other parts including Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, South Punjab, Hazara and Gilgit Baltistan, said MQM chief. Talking about the by-poll of NA-246, he alleged that during the polls it was witnessed that Rangers took recourse to illegal and unconstitutional undertaking at the polling stations.

MQM chief claimed that the party would have secured 250,000 votes if the authorities have extended the polling time but PTI voiced to end the polling on time after coming to know that MQM is moving quite marvelously towards the victory. Jamaat-e-Islami after knowing their losing position also demanded to end the polling on time, he added.

He further said that biased analysts had earlier stated that MQM vote graph had gone down but the people proved them wrong by rejecting all the allegations against the MQM. He said former MQM member Saulat Mirza leveled baseless allegations against the party but the establishment propaganda episode had flopped and it did not affect the people. Now the establishment should accept MQM’s mandate and halt its useless fight against the party, he added

Criticising Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah, he said the CM takes notices of all the relevant things but failed to take any action. “Qaim is a man without any power. He has no authority to lift ban on pillion riding, even he cannot recruit the local population into the police department.” He thanked the population of the constituency who voted the MQM. He congratulated the MQM office-bearers over the by-election victory. Altaf stressed for forming the administration units in the country.

Meanwhile, MQM MPAs, in a joint statement, condemned CM Qaim’s statement over relating the demand of a separate province with the MQM chief. MQM senior deputy convener Nadeem Nusrat has asked the CM to listen the complete speech of Altaf before making any statement.
