Islamabad - The residents of under-developed sector G-13 have demanded of the authorities concerned to speed up installation work of streetlights to minimize their problems.
After sunset the whole area plunges into darkness and gave a deserted look due to uninstallaton of streetlight which creates a number of problems to the people of the area including security issues. A resident Nadeem Aslam told APP here on Saturday that a person cannot go outside after sunset for a walk because of darkness in the entire area.
Another resident Abdul Basit pointed out that due to darkness, animals like dogs come out and pose serious threats to the residents. Ayesha Khan, a house wife, expressed her views that three or four lights in each street would be enough for time being. The residents demanded of the authorities concerned to complete the installation of streetlights as soon as possible. When contacted, a Capital Development Authority (CDA) official informed that installation of streetlights in G 13 sector would soon be completed.
Regarding reason behind the delay, he said that the contractor of the project and CDA authorities had some issues, adding, “We are trying our best to overcome these issues and complete the installation.”
Meanwhile, the Capital Development Authority, Directorate of Health Services (DHS) had decided to accelerate its campaign against food outlets selling substandard food or executing their business in unhygienic conditions.
Taking notice of reports regarding food adulteration, senior official of the civic body directed the departments concerned to speed up the campaign against food outlets selling substandard food.
“To ensure healthy and hygienic food for citizens, the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) would carry on a campaign against substandard food outlets without any interruptions, senior official of DHS said.
He added that three departments-namely DMA, DHs and the District Health Department-were responsible for checking food adulteration.
