Education is expensive in the country, only the rich can provide education to their children: Justice Ejaz Afzal

ISLAMABAD: Justice Ejaz Afzal has remarked education is expensive in the country and only the rich can provide education to their children.

He further remarked the poor people are unable to provide education to their children; therefore, government should take steps for providing educational facilities to the children of the poor.

He gave these remarks while presiding over a 2-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) during the course of hearing of Auqaf department[s land occupation case here Tuesday.

The petitioner Muzaffar Hussain told the court that people have occupied land measuring several acres in Muzaffargarh and Rajan Pur. The fees are being charged in thousands in Auqaf run schools and the children of opulent people can study in these schools. Dacoits and gangs are living on the land of Auqaf department. This department does not tell the correct price of its land.

Additional Attorney General (AAG) Punjab told the court that committee has been constituted under commissioner for overseeing the auction of land.

Justice Ejaz Afzal remarked “education is expensive in the country and only rich people can provide education to their children. The poor people are unable to provide educational facilities to their children. Government should take steps for providing educational facilities to the children of the poor people.

The court while seeking report on occupation and auction of land of Auqaf department and details of accounts of Auqaf department schools adjourned the hearing of the case till June, 2.
