Man ‘torches’ wife in Sukkur

SHIKARPUR - A ruthless husband torched his wife on Monday over a minor issue at New Pind Colony, Sukkur on Monday.

Police have arrested him who was later identified as Javed Ahmed Gadani. He torched his wife Shabana Gadani over a domestic issue by spraying petrol on her.

According to sources, the father of Shabana has lodged a complaint with the New Pind Police Station against his son-in-law and his two brothers. Shabana’s father said his son-in-law namely Javed Gadani along with his two brothers torched his daughter. He said Javed Gadani also used to torture his daughter. He was also involved in gambling. Police have conducted multiple raids to arrest other culprits involved in the incident. Shabana was shifted to Civil Hospital, Sukkur. Sources further said she was in critical condition as she received 90 percent burn injuries. Further police investigation is underway till this story was filed.

Moreover, a passenger was killed and eight others sustained injuries at Darzi Waah Link Road, some 20 kilometers from here the other day. As per details, a speeding passenger van collided with a motorcycle rickshaw (Chingchi), coming from opposite direction.

As a result of the accident, a Chingchi passenger identified as Niaz Ahmed was killed on the way to hospital while eight other passengers of Chingchi and passenger van were identified as Abdul Qadir, Ali Nawaz Jamali, Bashir Soomro, Younis Soomro, Mir Hazar Mangsi, Sanaullah Lashari, Taj Muhammad and one another who could not be identified. They received serious injuries.

The area police rushed to the spot and shifted the body and the injured to district headquarter hospital, Shikarpur. Later, the body was handed over to the heirs. Two of the injured persons were referred to Chandka Medial College Hospital (CMCH) Larkana for further medical assistance. Both the drivers of Chingchi and passenger van managed to flee from the spot. Police have taken the Chingchi and passenger van into their custody. Further investigation is underway. An FIR was not registered till this story was filed.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Shikarpur chapter set up a camp against corruption at Lakhi Gate, Clock Tower here. JI leader Ali Asghar Pahore said the JI was trying to eliminate corruption from Pakistan and it has initiated campaign against corruption across Pakistan in this regard. He praised the efforts of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif who terminated the services of Pak Army officers involved in corruption and initiated accountability from his institution. He said the people of Pakistan now want to get rid of corruption culture, including corrupt politicians and bureaucrats so that the masses could take a sigh of relief. Shikarpur Press Club President Sultan Rind, senior journalist Waheed Phulpoto, Qaumi Awami Tehreek leader Zahid Bhambhro, Zafar Channa and others reached the camp and hailed the efforts of the JI against corruption.
