KARACHI - Karachi police on Monday arrested two street criminals after an encounter during which one was arrested in injured condition while another was arrested after chase.
According to SSP Central, Maroof Usman, arrested accused injured was identified as Majid while other was identified as Sikandar.
Police also recovered a snatched motorcycle, two pistols, two mobile phones and cash from the accused.
Earlier, the Azizabad police station team during patrolling had signaled a motorcy-cle to stop, however, according to the police, the motorcyclists opened firing on police party. During an exchange of firing, one street criminal was arrested in in-jured condition while another was nabbed after chase. Injured accused was shift-ed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
Alleged drug trafficker arrested
The district South police in an operation arrested an alleged drug dealer, involved in sale of drugs in the guise of security guard in the bungalows of Defence area.
Gizri police formed an undercover team on several complaints from residents of the area and the team, acting on a tip-off, arrested a suspect involved in drug traf-ficking, said police sources on Monday. A total of 1,040 grams of charas was recovered from the possession of the arrest-ed accused. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he also secretly sells drugs while working as security guard in the bungalows. The arrested accused were identified as Abdul Basit son of Ahmed Jan.
A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is un-derway.
