LAHORE - Islamabad put up brilliant show in extra time to outwit Vehari United 3-1 and enter the  semi-finals of the Fourth National Women Football Championship, currently in progress under sponsorship of Narcotics at Islamabad's Jinnah Stadium. The star performer was Islamabad's talented midfielder Mejzgaan Orakzai who fired hat-trick, with two goals coming in extra-time. The first quarter-final of the event saw absorbing match between two spirited outfits. Islamabad were the first to settle down and enjoyed 4th minute lead with Orakzai making a cut from left and sending the ball into left corner. But their joy was short-lived when opportunist striker Rafia Perveen, gold medallist with Punjab in 2005, accelerated onto Shazia's defence-splitting drive and did the rest with 33rd minute angular shot. It was 1-1 at interval and same scoreline was posted at full time. The extra-time was awarded to break the deadlock and Islamabad utilised the added time with two convincing goals against tiring visitors from Burewala. Orakzai, MVP during 2006 edition, made it 2-1 after a fine understanding with winger Samantha in the 6th minute of extra-time, and put the issue beyond doubt with 25-metre drive few seconds before closure. Vehari United, who won the heart of Islamabad's fans, became the sixth team to be eliminated after Sindh, AJK, Punjab, Police and NWFP.
