PESHAWAR - JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Monday expressed disappointment over the shifting of stance of PPP leadership on various national issues, saying the JUI-F would review its status as partner of the coalition government. "It seems difficult for JUI-F to support PPP in the upcoming presidential elections due to the ambiguous situation created by PPP," he said while inaugurating the Fund Collecting Camp for the displaced affectees of the Bajaur Agency. Fazl said that the PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari had backtracked time and again and his recent statement in which he said that political agreements were not as sacred and unchangeable as Quran or Hadith had conveyed a clear message to all coalition partners. He said that such statements had reflected the intentions of Zardari, which would definitely create lack of trust among the coalition partners. "We have strong reservations over Zardari's statement and are waiting for his response to remove these doubts, as being coalition partner, we have the right to ask Zardari to explain his statement," Fazl said. The JUI-F Chief informed that his party would remain impartial over the resolutions to be moved in National and Provincial Assemblies proposing Asif Ali Zardari as the candidate for the office of the president. To reach a consensus in that regard, he said, the JUI-F would hold a meeting of its central executive council on August 28. Responding to a question, Fazl said that JUI-F had joined the coalition government under the agreement to put an end to the ongoing military operations against militants in different parts of the NWFP and Fata. The coalition government had planned to bring the issues of militancy and extremism at the floor of the National Assembly and devise strategy for its durable solution but the issues of judges' restoration and presidential elections didn't allow the government to do so, he concluded. Monitoring Desk adds: A PPP delegation comprising of Khurshid Shah and Sherry Rehman called on JUI-F leadership and discussed issues of mutual interest, reported a private TV channel late on Monday. Talking to the media, JUI-F leader Maulana Ghafour Haidari said that his party would decided on August-27 in its party meeting regarding voting or not in favour of PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari in presidential election.
