ISLAMABAD - The Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) has paid a sum of Rs 71.94 billion (Rs 71,941050,000) to earthquake of 2005 hit people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhaw, says a document placed in the Parliament.       
A total of 611,059 quake-hit people were paid Rs 15.3 billion at the rate of Rs 25,000 each. The subsequent instalments were paid subject to compliance of the conditions. A sum of US$ 877 million was received by government of Pakistan for earthquake affectees from an international consortium. ERRA does not issue any cheque to the bank accounts of earthquake-hit people. The compensation amount had been issued to PERRA and SERRA. A sum of Rs 14,143,800 is still with Provisional earthquake Reconstruction Rehabilitation Agency (PERRA), State Earthquake Reconstruction & Rehabilitation Agency (SERRA) due to discrepancies in bank accounts, CNIC or death of the affectees.  The compensation would be paid as soon as disbursed as soon as the discrepancies are addressed. A total of 54 High School buildings situated in Tehsil Rawalakot, District Poonch, Azad Kashmir had been damaged in October 8, 2005 earthquake. Out of which 13 buildings have been reconstructed.
The reconstruction of 11 school buildings have been funded by the government of Pakistan while two buildings have been constructed with the funds provided by the donors.
