KARACHI - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Karachi chapter Saturday imposed a fine of Rs 0.5 million on its MPA Imran Ali Shah who was found guilty of torturing a citizen on August 14.
Karachi PTI President Fridous Shamim Naqvi made this announcement during a press conference at Insaf House here. PTI Disciplinary Committee Chairman ADSJ (r) Rana Zaki Shamsi, Dr Pervaiz Ghaffar, Mehmood Maulvi, Sarwar Rajput, Ali Aziz, Shahzad Qureshi and others were also present on the occasion.
Speaking to media persons, Naqvi said the party disciplinary committee took the decision before Eidul Azha against the party legislators for violating the discipline and taking the law into their hands, but wanted to announce it after Eid.
He said the decision-making body has directed Imran Ali Shah to pay the amount of Rs 0.5 million as a fine over violating the party discipline. He said the party would not tolerate such action from any member and strict action would be taken against violators.
“Imran appeared before the disciplinary committee where he offered apology and expressed regret over his action. He along with other party leaders also visited Dowood Chohan, the victim, to tender apology,” said the PTI Karachi president, adding the citizen had accepted Imran’s apology.
Naqvi stated the party has directed Imran Ali Shah to offer free medical treatment to about 20 orthopedic patients at his personal clinic referred by Edhi Trust Foundation. Imran was also going to pay Rs 0.5 million as fine which would be spent on orphans and old age homes.
He said PTI Karachi chapter has warned Imran Ali Shah to follow the party discipline and in case of any similar action, he would be expelled from the party.
“We have promised justice to the people and the party disciplinary committee had taken strict action against the party member finding him guilty,” Naqvi concluded.
It is pertinent to mention here that PTI MPA Imran Ali Shah’s video went viral on social media in which PTI leader was shown slapping a citizen near National Stadium Road Karachi. Following the incident Imran was suspended by the party for a month while PTI Karachi chapter fined him Rs 0.5 million.
