Recently, there seems to be quite a hue & cry with regards to strict implementation of the ordinance for one-dish on marriage functions. I believe this is an intrusion in an individual's rights and private life. The question that bothers me most is why isn't this ordinance implemented in case of the local state functions and why, indeed, not in the case of those held for foreign dignitaries? With these lavish state banquets going on, how does anyone feel the pity for us to drop something in our begging bowl? If we are as poor a nation as we are made out to be, what is all this VVIP fuss about? -A CONCERNED CITIZEN, Lahore, via e-mail, December 18.
