ISLAMABAD - To overcome the menace of overloading by the students on the roof-tops of public transport, ITP has prepared a plan to facilitate and educate them while specified fare for the students will be notified by the District Administration. Muhammad Zubair Hashmi, SSP/Traffic said it during the meeting of colleges' principals, Director Education, Secretary Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA), reps of Public Transporters and ITP Officers. According to details a meeting of all stakeholders was convened which was presided over by SSP/Traffic, Muhammad Zubair Hashmi. Muhammad Rafique Tahir, Director Education, Ashfaq Ahmad Khan, SP/Traffic, Bashir Ahmad, Secretary ITA, Saqib Nazir, AP, IMCB I-8/3, Col. Mohammad Saleem VP, (Admn) The City School of Capital Campus, H-8, Prof. Abdul Hafeez, Principal FG Post Graduate College H-8, Muhammad Azhar Butt, Principal FG College H-9, Zafrullah Khan Buttar, Principal FG Commerce College H-8/4, Hayee Akhtar Awan, President Transport, Raja Changez Akhter, Transporters Route 104, Jamil Hashmi DSP/Traffic Zone IV, Rafaqat Hussain DSP/Traffic Zone III, Mohammad Ashraf Kahut Insp/Traffic, Special Squard and Abdul Qadeer, Preston University attended the meeting . SSP/Traffic divulged that the climbing on roof tops of Buses by the students is not only caused inconvenience to the public but a danger to their lives and it enhanced while these buses beneath high power electricity cables, therefore, there is a dire need to eradicate this problem. Director Education, Prof. Muhammad Rafique Tahir disclosed to the meeting that presently 166 buses have been plied by the colleges while there is a dire need of more 164 buses and a case has already been sent to concerned authorities for approval. Director Education added that principals of all the colleges will educate the students of their respective colleges about the danger of travelling on roof top of buses and ITP Officers, Colleges Administration and Reps of Public Transport collectively sort out ways and means to over come the menace. SSP Traffic stressed upon the participants that every stakeholder has to play his effective role to come over the problem. In the regard it was also decided that ITP Officers in collaboration with college administration imparted lectures to the students apprising them to avoid from climbing on roof top of buses as it endanger their lives. He apprised the Secretary ITA after getting approval from the Chief Commissioner, ICT and the Dy. Commissioner a specified fare may be notified facilitating the students to travel to their educational institutions with honour and dignity and a notification after consultation with all stake holders should be issued for rapid resolution of this menace. Director Education and Principals of the colleges extended their full support to the SSP traffic Zubair Hashmi to come over the problems as well as the reps of transporters also extended their support for the viable solution.
