QUETTA - Five people including two real brothers were shot dead in three separate incidents of firing in Balochistan on Sunday.

In the first incident, unknown armed men opened indiscriminate firing on two brothers at Abdul Aziz chowk on Manu Jan Road. Resultantly, both received critical wounds and were rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta where they succumbed to their injuries. The assailants escaped from the site after committing the crime. The deceased were identified as Muhammad Aslam and Shahzad residents of Dera Ghazi Khan. ‘The killing of brothers appears to be a case of target killing, however, investigations into the killing are underway to ascertain real motive behind the killing’, a police officer said. Police after completing legal formalities handed over the bodies to heirs.

In the second incident, unidentified armed men shot dead Anwar Masih at Tajikabad area, within the limits of Saddar police station.

Police said that deceased Anwar Masih was member of Christian community and was on his way when he was targeted by assailants. However, cause of killing is yet to be ascertained.

Police have registered separate cases of both incidents and started further investigation to arrest the culprits.

In the third incident, two people were killed and two others wounded in Kech district. Jabir and Amjad were killed in an armed attack in Nazarabad area of Kech while two others, Waqar and Ahmed, received injuries in the attack.

Levies Force personnel rushed to the site and moved the dead and injured to hospital. However, motive behind the killings could not be ascertained immediately.

Meanwhile, An engineer was kidnapped by unidentified armed men from Mastung district, some 60 km from here on Sunday. According to Levies officials, Hafiz Ejaz, an engineer was on his way to Quetta after repairing a mobile tower of a private company in Mastung when armed men intercepted his vehicle at Kadkocha area of Mastung. 

The armed men held him at gun-point and later drove him away towards undisclosed location, they added. Local administration after getting information about the incident started a search drive in the area to trace out the kidnappers. However, so far no group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.

It may be mentioned here that incidents of kidnapping for ransom are on the rise in Balochitan.
