RAHIM YAR KHAN - A man allegedly killed a groom during his Walima reception while the people caught the accused and handed him over to the police.

According to detail, Farooq Kohkar, a resident of Zahir Peer, was busy in his walima reception the other evening. His friend namely Sadiq also came to attend the ceremony. Meanwhile, he started firing at the groom.

Resultantly, Farooq Kohkar sustained a bullet and died on the spot while Sadiq tried to escape from the scene but people caught him.

The police rushed to the scene and took the accused into custody.

The Zahir Peer Police Sub-Inspector told the media that the police reached the spot soon after getting information and arrested Nazar and recovered the weapon. He said that a case 302 (PPC) was registered against him. He pointed out that the weapon recovered from the accused was unlicensed.

The SI quoted accused Nazar as saying the police that he had not killed the groom. “I was astonishing that what happened with the groom as i have no idea from where the bullet was fired at the groom,” the police quoted the accused as saying.

The SI said that the weapon and bullet were sent for forensic Lab to ascertain facts. Accused Nazar told the police that he was firing in jubilation to celebrate the occasion.
