HAFIZABAD - Hundreds of power looms workers protested 18-hour power loadshedding which rendered them jobless.

Led by Union President Muhammad Zaman Ansari, the protesters chanted slogans against Gepco and called upon the Ministry of Water to take mercy on them and save them from starvation.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATES: The Christian community observed Christmas with religious enthusiasm on Sunday.

Special prayers were offered in all the churches here for the interfaith harmony, integrity and solidarity of the country and peace in the world.

Pastors while addressing their audience said that the Christianity and the Islam preach love with mankind, peace and tranquillity. They pledged to work in unison with the Muslims for national cohesion and prosperity of the nation.

Meanwhile, they criticized 18-hour loadshedding in the city on Sunday which marred their festivities.

The TMA Labour Union thanked the TMA administrator for providing the sweepers uniform and other accessories and also paid salaries to them in advance and organising Sasta bazaars for the Christian community.

PASSES AWAY: Mother of Abdul Hameed Superintendent DCO Office Hafizabad died here after protracted illness. She was 75.

She was laid to rest in Railway Lines Graveyard last night. The funeral was attended by large number of citizens, officers and staff of different departments including DCO Muhammad Asif, Deputy Director Information Syed Iftikhar Ali Shah and large number of local journalists.
