SADIQABAD - The federal government has approved Rs360 million funds for development and education projects for Rahim Yar Khan.

The funds were approved by the prime minister during his meeting with MNA Chaudhry Javed Iqbal Warraich at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad.

Out of the approved funds, Rs60 million will be spent for the construction the Allama Iqbal Open University’s campus in Rahim Yar Khan. Likewise, roads’ construction, and electricity, gas and water supply projects will be completed at a cost of Rs300 million in the constituency 196 of the district.

The government would spend Rs100 million for electrification, Rs70 million for gas supply, Rs100 million for roads’ construction and water supply project will be completed at a cost of Rs30 million. The PM also directed the MNA to compote the development projects at the earliest.

During his visit to Rahim Yar Khan, PM Gilani had announced to construct new campus of the Allama Iqbal Open University in the district. For this purpose, the AIOU vice chancellor has approved Rs150 million following the prime minister’s directives.

It will be second biggest AIOU campus after Islamabad’s in the country. It will consist of three computer labs, one female and two male hostels, two examination halls, admin block, a library, a technical workshop, a video conference hall, officers’ residences and a cafeteria coupled with bank and post office facilities.

Ministry felicitates church: The Religious Ministry has presented Christmas Tree to the Catholic Church on the Christmas Day.

On behalf of the district coordination officer, District Officer (E&IP) Tanveer Ahmad Chaudhry presented the tree and conveyed the ministry’s felicitation message. Besides, Pakistan Social Association district organiser Safdar Hussain and others also presented Christmas gifts to fathers Maximell and Francis at the church. 

On the occasion, the presenters said that they visited the church to express solidarity with the Christian community on the day. They said, “We all are brothers as Pakistani nation regardless of belonging to different religions.”
