ISLAMABAD (APP) – Fruits and vegetable export from the country during the first five months of current financial year has registered an increase of 13.94 percent and 28.47 percent respectively.

 Fruits export from the country during the period from July-November 2011 witnessed an increase of 13.94 percent as about 163,132 metric ton fruits of different varieties worth US$ 88.59 million were exported.

 According to the data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS), about 152,091 metric ton fruit costing US$ 7.77 million was exported during the same period of last year.

 Meanwhile, the export of vegetables increased by 28.47 percent as about 95,452 metric ton vegetables worth US$ 28.55 million was exported during the period under review.

 The vegetable export was recorded at 57,041 metric tons costing US$ 22.28 million tons during the same period of last financial year, the data revealed.

 The export of leguminous vegetables (pulses) showed 100 percent increase during the period from July-November 2010-11 as about 1,718 metric tons of pulses worth US$ 1.89 million exported.  from the country,it said.

 The country earned US$ 12.50 million by exporting 50,195 metric tons of fish and fisheries preparation which was up by 15.83 percent when compared with the export of same period of last year, it added.

 Meat and meat preparation export increased by 30.20 percent as about 23,995 metric ton meat and meat products value US$ 7.37 million were exported during the period under review.
