As reported the initial work on electoral reforms is in full swing. The sub-committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms (PCER) has recommended that ECP, the main body responsible for conducting elections, should be entrusted with more powers to regulating control of the returning officers, polling staff and security personals on the polling stations. The more independent ECP would be, the more credible, authentic and reliable would be the election results. The PCER is currently adjudging over 1200 suggestions for final recommendation to make the electoral system flawless and capable of rendering results, voicing the genuine choice of the people. It is hoped that Government will keep up sincere efforts for electoral reforms and all stakeholders will help revitalizing this system.
