Khurshid Shah calls out PM Nawaz's silence on Sindh

SUKKUR: Opposition leader Khurshid Shah today complained over Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s silence on Sindh issue.

While talking to journalists in Sukkur, opposition leader said that the federal government should step in for the resolution of Sindh matters.

He said that extension in Rangers’ power in Karachi was not only the main issue. The continuous silence of PM Nawaz on giving powers to Sindh province, may create difficulties for federation as well, he added.

Responding to a question, Khurshid Shah said that PM Modi’s visit to Lahore is a positive step towards peace process however; a scheduled meeting would have resulted in the discussion on various matters.

Shah advised the premier to play role in ensuring justice to the Sindh, during his visit on December 28 or else it will raise chaos against him.

Earlier, federal government issued a notification to extend the powers of Rangers in Sindh. The federation extended the powers of rangers under the Anti-Terrorism Act. There are chances of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visiting Karachi in order to talk on the issue with the provincial government of Sindh.

Federal government, in reply to Sindh government’s letter has stated that provincial governments could be given orders by federation executive authority for security reasons. Sources privy to the federal government said that federation has made it clear to Sindh that it could be ordered by the federation, given the circumstances.
