LAHORE - Speakers at ceremonies to mark birthday of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah paid glowing tributes to founder of Pakistan for liberating the Muslims of subcontinent from the subjugation of the British and Hindus.
At functions arranged by Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust (NPT) at Aiwan-i-Karkunan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan and Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam, they stressed the need for unity and joint struggle for development and progress of the country. In written message at a ceremony at Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam, Chairman of NPT and former President of Pakistan Muhammad Rafique Tarar congratulated the participants on birthday of Quaid-i-Azam. He stressed the need for following principles of the Father of the Nation to put Pakistan on the right path.
Begum Majeeda Wyne lamented that Pakistan has not achieved yet the level of status as desired by Quaid-i-Azam. However, she expressed the hope that Pakistan would soon get the status as envisaged by the Quaid. She urged the participants to serve Pakistan in the light of the teachings of the Quaid-i-Azam. Justice (Retd) Khalil-ur-Rehman Khan said that stability of Pakistan lies in following the ideology of Pakistan in letter and spirit.
Mian Farooq Altaf laid stress on the participants to follow the sayings of the Quaid in order to take Pakistan to a new height of development and growth.
Muhammad Akram Chaudhry lamented that Pakistanis have forgotten the lesson of faith, unity and discipline. He said every Pakistani should do self-accountability to know if they were acting upon Quaid’s teachings.
Shahid Rasheed said the Quaid worked hard for the Muslims of the subcontinent. He said that NPT had organised a series of programmes at both places to highlight the work of the Quaid-i-Azam. The participants also joined Begum Majeeda Wyne at the cake cutting ceremony.
Justice (Retd) Mian Mahboob Ahmed addressed another gathering at Aiwan-i-Karkunan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan and spoke at length about the towering personality and hard work of the Quaid.
Vice Chairman of NPT Dr Rafique Ahmed shared with the audience his repeated meetings with the Quaid-i-Azam during the Pakistan Movement. He said Muslims of the subcontinent had rendered sacrifices for Pakistan. He said the Quaid had special affection for the youth and he worked hard to turn a crowd into a nation. Cake cutting ceremony was also arranged on this occaion.
Similar events were arranged at educational institutions, hospitals and offices/houses of leaders of different political parties. The Young Nurses Association arranged a ceremony at Services Hospital. Addressing the event, Chief Nursing Superintendent Samina Yasmeen said that Unity, Faith and Discipline were key to success. “We should all follow Quaid’s message of work, work and work,” she said. She urged nurses to follow teachings of the great leader and continue to work for the ailing humanity with zeal and zest. President of YNA Shamshad Niazi, Lubna Yasmeen, Asma Taaj, Sajida Parveen, Fahmida Haider and a large number of nurses attended the ceremony. A cake was cut at the end of the ceremony. President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Central Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan and PTI leader Ijaz Chaudhry arranged separate events at their houses to mark Quaid’s birth anniversary.
