ISLAMABAD (Online) - Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reserved judgment on an application filed by advocate Moulvi Iqbal whereby the eligibility of President Asif Ali Zardari has been challenged. During the course of hearing, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (r) Hamid Ali Mirza Thursday remarked there was a specific time for challenging the eligibility and objections are raised when nomination papers are filed. Iqbal Haider argued before CEC that the Supreme Court had annulled the NRO from the day it was promulgated and had ordered all the beneficiaries to face the cases in the respective institutions. He took the plea NRO was in place when President Zardari had filed his nomination papers. As SC had revoked NRO, the ECP should again scrutinise the nomination papers of Asif Zardari. He requested CEC to consider his application in light of the SC verdict.
