Muslim unity can foil enemy's evil designs: Shahbaz

LAHORE-Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that we will have to act upon the Islamic Teaching in letter and spirit for making Pakistan an Islamic welfare state and a model of Madina agreement (Meesaq-e-Madina) and will have to promote the sentiments of brotherhood, mutual unity and harmony in the society. He was addressing Provincial Seerat Conference held under the aegis of Auqaf Department at Al Hamra Hall here on Thursday. Punjab Minister for Auqaf Haji Ahsaan-ud-din Qureshi, MMA, and Chairman Mutahida Ulema Board Punjab Sahibzada Fazal Karim, Secretary Auqaf Najam Saeed, Chairman Quran Board Ahmed Ali Qasuri, Ulema and Mashaikh belonging to various schools of thought and a large number of people attended the moot. We are believer of one God, one Holy Prophet and one Holy book but still we are divided in groups and this is the main reason of our weakness due to which we are forced to beg from foreigns despite being atomic power. We will have to make pledge of unity and harmony in our ranks by burying sectarian differences on the occasion of Seerat-un-Nabi Conference and Eid Meelad-un-Nabi and the Ulema and Mashaikh will have to play their historic role in this regard, Shahbaz Sharif observed, adding, we did not unite for foiling the nefarious designs of enemies and stability of the country, then history will not forgive us. He said Muslims had forgotten universal massage of Islam and Islamic teachings as a result of which the entire Muslim Ummah stood divided and was dependent upon foreign powers in many respects. He said that the motherland was achieved after great struggle and numerous sacrifices of our forefathers but we could not transform it in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Poet of the East. He said that country will have to rely on our own resources by eliminating baggerness and maintaining our atomic power. It is only possible if the nation remains united, he added. He further stated that Pakistan was facing serious problem of terrorism and innocent citizens were being martyred in bazaars, mosques and Imam bargahs. He said that country men will have to ponder over this thing that how their enemy had succeeded in creating differences in their ranks. He said that conspiracies were being hatched for destabilizing the motherland and differences have been created in Muslim Ummah. He said that Ulema and Mahsaikh have to come forward to play their historic role for achieving the lost glory of Muslims and unity of Ummah. He said, We have to unite the nation on the same pattern upon which Quaid and Iqbal had united the Muslims of sub-continent on one plate-form by acting upon the principle of Dont leave own belief and do not interfere in others belief, he said. The CM lamented that leaders raised many slogans during the last 63 years but did nothing practically. He said that now time has come for practical work instead of sloganeering and we have to march forward by making hard work, honesty and trust our motto. He said that it is the need of the hour to spread and implement the universal message of unity, love and politeness of Holy Prophet (PBUH). He said that there is no example of generosity and boldness of Holy Prophet in the world and He presented his life as a best model for us. If we act upon his teachings, then there is no need to seek guidance from others, he added. He said that Pakistan was achieved after numerous sacrifices and if we look upon keeping in view these sacrifices and efforts of Ulema, then we feel that we could not make the country an Islamic and welfare state, upon which we are ashamed of founders and martyrs. He said that the Ulema have to promote the message of love and brotherhood through their sermons and speeches. He said that the western world has made tremendous progress by utilizing science, technology and modern knowledge and are ruling the world today but despite availability of all resources and capabilities, Muslim Ummah is far behind in the field of development. If Muslims have to make progress, then they will have to achieve expertise in science and technology, he added. During his address to the conference, he directly asked the Ulema to play their role for the unity of the nation and he will extend all possible cooperation to them for this purpose. While addressing the conference, Provincial Minister for Auqaf, Haji Ahsaan-ud-din Qureshi, said that today is a historic day and we gathered here to pay rich tributes to that Great Personality (PBUH)for which the whole universe was created. He said that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) preached Islam with love and wisdom. He said that if we adopt the same way of preaching, then not only the society will become civilized but the country will become cradle of peace. Member National Assembly and Chairman Mutahida Ulema Board Punjab Sahibzada Fazal Karim, addressing the conference said that Islam is the religion of love and brotherhood and it is the need of the hour that we should be united by setting aside our differences for the solidarity and existence of the country and Ulema has also proved this by uniting themselves on one plate-form against terrorism. Secretary Auqaf Najam Saeed and Ulema of various schools of thought addressing the conference highlighted various aspects of Seerat-un-Nabi and strategy of Holy Prophet (PBUH) for preaching Islam. Ulema paid rich tributes to the Chief Minister Punjab on unanimous approval of NFC Award, promotion of unity and harmony and steps taken for the welfare of the people of the province. Earlier Chief Minister gave away cash prizes and shields to the writers of best books on Seerat-un-Nabi and Punjab and Naat in Urdu language.
