LAHORE Dacoits stormed into a house situated in Shadbagh police vicinity when wedding party was underway there, and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint in the wee hours of Friday. Police sources said that three bandits equipped with sophisticated weapons barged into the house Muhammad Maqsood in Shadbagh police area. The robbers held up more than 60 wedding guests including 25 women who were present there at gunpoint. The bandits also thrashed and punched the women on offering resistance during the house robbery. Later, the dacoits collected cash, gold ornament worth hundreds of thousands of rupees besides cellular phones and fled away from the scene. The wedding ceremony was scheduled to take place on Friday afternoon, the victim family said. The police reached the spot when the robbers had fled away. However, the police have registered the case against unidentified robbers and are investigating with no arrest made so far. 16 criminals held: National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) N-5 Central has arrested 16 criminals involved in various criminal charges and recovered stolen cotton bales worth more than Rs 18 million, arms and ammunition, motorcycle, animals, and other valuables. Similarly Motorway Police have reunited two lost children with their families and returned lost luggage of different passengers. The arrested accused were identified as Zulfiqar, Nadir, Ejaz, Zafar Iqbal, M Shahid, M Imran, Sikandar, Qammar Abbas, Kashif, Naseem, Shahzad Khan and Waqas Khan. Police also recovered a large quantity of liquor, two pistols and a rifle along with ammunition, stolen animals and a Honda CD 70 Motorcycle. In another bid NH&MP Special squad recovered 270 bales of cotton worth 18 billion and arrested four culprits.
