LAHORE - President Model Town Club Rao Akbar, a great patron of tennis, honoured the Pakistan Davis Cup team and hosted a dinner at Model Town K Club Lahore. The team consist of Aisamul Haq, Aqeel Khan, Samir Iftikhar and Yasir Khan, non-playing Mushaf Zia, coach Rashid Malik. Rao Akbar and Secretary Imtiaz Ahmad wished good luck to the team and hoped that they would do thier best to win the tie and bring name to the country. Rao Akbar awarded Rs 25,000 for tennis equipment to young talented newcomer in the team Samir Iftikhar and recognised his achievements as second seed junior for country since 1998 to win four ITF Junior World Ranking titles. Whereas on domestic circuit, he beat Aqeel Khan, Jalil Khan and Yasir Khan to win the National hard court men's and junior titles. He also praised his extra ordinary performance in the Davis Cup trails where he defeated experienced Davis Cuppers Jalil Khan and Yasir Khan. Samir thanked Rao Akbar for his gesture and said he was thrilled to be in team with his first cousin Aisam and he would try his best to bring name to Pakistan in the crucial tie.
