LAHORE The Inspector General of Police Punjab Javed Iqbal has awarded major punishments to two DSPs on the charges of corruption, misbehave, misuse of powers, and showing sheer negligence while discharging their duties. According to an official communiqu issued on Friday from Central Police Office (CPO), the IG awarded punishment of reduction in rank from DSP to Inspector for five years to DSP Daud Husnain Abbas, the then SDPO, Sadar, Bhakkar on charges of corruption; misconduct and inefficiency. Enquiry Officer Mr Aftab Ahmad Mahsud, the then Addl SP Iqbal Town, Faisalabad, held him guilty of charges levelled against him in Show Cause notice issued to the accused officer. However the DSP pleaded himself innocent in a reply of the show cause notice. The DSP appeared in the orderly room of IG Police Punjab and was heard in person where the DSP was given full opportunity to prove his innocence but he had noting plausible to state except lame excuses. The IGP Javed Iqbal also awarded punishment of reduction in rank from DSP to Inspector for five years to Sarfaraz Hussain Gillani, the then DSP/PHP, Khanewal, on charges of embezzlement donated amount, misconduct and inefficiency. Enquiry Officer Mr Muhammad Zubair Dreshak, the then SSP PC, Multan, held him guilty of charges levelled against him in show cause notice issued to accused officer but during the regular enquiry it proved the DSP tried to embezzle the donated amount which is a grave misconduct on his part. The second DSP also pleaded himself innocent. The DSP appeared in the orderly room of IG Police Punjab and was heard in person where the DSP was given full opportunity to prove his innocence but he had noting plausible to state except lame excuses. Meanwhile the IG Police Javed Iqbal issued transfer and posting orders of two senior police officers on the same day. Mr. Fawad-ud-Din Riaz Qureshi, awaiting posting, was transferred and posted as Assistant Inspector General of Police, Logistics, Police Headquarters, Punjab and Rana Shujaat Ali transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Investigation, Vehari.
