ISLAMABAD - The US Embassy in Islamabad Friday approached Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for consular access for an American citizen named Aaron Mark De Haven detained by police in Peshawar. "We are arranging consular access through the Government of Pakistan. Until a US government representative meets with him, we cannot confirm additional details," acting spokesperson Courtney Beale told The Nation here. The accused US national has been charged with staying in Pakistan illegally for more than four months after expiry of his visa. He has been charged under section 14 of the Foreign Act, 1946. Meanwhile, the Embassy clarified that the family of Davis was not in Pakistan. As the date of the LHC to determine the question of diplomatic immunity is nearing, the FO continued its efforts to ascertain his status to certify whether who is entitled to diplomatic immunity.
